Located along a double-loaded jetty off the northwestern end of the island, these villas are perfectly positioned for viewing sunrise or sunset. Water Villas with Pool feature a 67-square-metre (721-square-foot) deck overlooking the pool, with access by spiral staircase to a furnished sea-gazing loft. The air-conditioned living/dining area is glass-fronted and features comfortable sofas. A bedroom, adjacent to the living room, is also glass-fronted, creating a double-width glass façade for taking in the views. This spacious room is air conditioned and features teak furniture, including a four-poster king bed with mosquito netting. Additional amenities include a plasma screen television, audiovisual system with DVD player, coffee- and tea-making facilities, private bar and separate dressing area.

Beach Bungalows with Pool feature a spacious, foliage-filled garden overlooking the lagoon. With separate living and sleeping pavilions, they provide privacy in a natural setting.The 91-square-metre (980-square-foot) garden features a private plunge pool. An open-air bale (traditional thatched hut) serves as the living and dining area. It features comfortable sofas and a daybed and is equipped with high-speed Internet access. The sleeping pavilion is air conditioned. It features teak wood furniture, including a four-poster king bed or twin beds with mosquito nets. Two-bedroom Koimala Land and Ocean Villa

Uniquely designed Koimala Land and Ocean Villas are built over land and water on the western shore of the island. A land pavilion houses the living area. From a wooden walkway, past a plunge pool, the sleeping pavilion "floats" on water. Due to the unique nature of Koimala Land and Ocean Villas, only children 11 years of age and above are welcome. The foliage-filled 400-square-metre (4,306-square-foot) outdoor garden features an 11-metre (36-foot) pool with built-in seating, a sundeck, a bale (traditional thatched hut) and sun lounges. Private beach access to the lagoon is available from a platform with outdoor shower. The land pavilion features al fresco living and dining areas, a library that can also be used as a guest room, a dining area that seats six, a full kitchen and a maid's bedroom.

Amenities in the living and dining areas include comfortable sofas and lounges, a plasma screen television, audiovisual system with DVD player, private bar, writing desk, dual-line telephone and high-speed Internet access. The full kitchen features a refrigerator, stove, microwave oven, toaster, juicer, espresso machine and a full range of cooking utensils and crockery.

From the living pavilion, a teak veranda leads to the sleeping pavilion, which is built on stilts over the water and features two air-conditioned bedrooms, each with a separate dressing area. From a spacious deck outside the sleeping area, a sea-gazing open-air pavilion provides stunning views of the lagoon and ocean beyond. Steps lead to a lower platform for direct access to the beach.

Two-bedroom Royal Beach Villa

The two-bedroom Royal Beach Villa, located on the western end of the island, overlooks 2 kilometres (1.2 miles) of glistening turquoise lagoon. This one-of-a-kind villa comprises master, living/dining and guest pavilions, linked by outdoor teak verandas dotted with water features.Nestled in the vast 890-square-metre (9,580-square-foot) outdoor space is a 30-metre (98-foot) lap pool with an island dining room "floating" over the 10-metre (33-foot) reflecting pool section near the east end. Nearby, a beach-side bale (traditional thatched hut) provides shade where you can enjoy the hypnotising ocean breeze.

A large, open living/dining pavilion features comfortable lounges and sofas, direct access to an outdoor courtyard and a furnished veranda. Indoors, a dining area seats eight. Adjacent to the dining area is a full kitchen complete with refrigerator, microwave oven, toaster, juicer and espresso machine. A full bathroom and maid's room are located off the living area.

The air-conditioned master and guest pavilions feature bedrooms with a sitting area and oversized closet. Additional amenities include a plasma screen television, audiovisual system with DVD player, private bar, coffee- and tea-making facilities, writing desk and high-speed Internet access. The garden courtyard is furnished with two massage beds; the veranda has two sun lounges.

Two-bedroom Water Villa

These two-bedroom villas are located at the northwestern corner of the island, at the end of the Water Villa jetty. They command stunning views of both sunset and sunrise. A spacious deck features plunge pool and direct access to the beach and lagoon. The 890-square-metre (9,580-square-foot) outdoor area features a deck with sun lounges, a dining table that seats six and access to a sea-gazing loft with two over-sized daybeds. Steps from the deck lead to a 15-metre (50-foot) plunge pool and a platform with outdoor shower, leading to the lagoon.

The living and dining area, overlooking the plunge pool and deck, features comfortable lounges and sofas, a plasma screen television, audiovisual system with DVD player, dual-line telephone, high-speed Internet access, private bar, coffee- and tea-making facilities and an espresso machine. The dining area seats six.

Each air-conditioned bedroom has a sitting area and closet. Additional amenities include a plasma screen television, audiovisual system with DVD player and dual-line telephone.

Dining

Blu

Located at the western end of the island overlooking a 2-kilometre (1.2-mile) lagoon, Blu embraces the essence of the Maldives as the place where the ocean meets the sky. From the restaurant pavilion on one side or the Blu Bar pavilion on the other, you can watch the sun sink below the horizon.

The restaurant serves à la carte breakfast, light antipasti, pizza and pasta at lunch and fine Italian cuisine in the evening. Seats 40 indoors, 42 at the bar and 12 on the beach.

Specialties

Contemporary Italian fare is served at lunch and dinner; homemade gelati are served poolside throughout the day. A children's menu is also available.

Al Barakat

Named after Abu Al Barakat Yusuf Al Barbari, a North African scholar who made Baa Atoll his home in the 12th century, Al Barakat serves authentic Arabian cuisine. The restaurant is built over water, off the main jetty. A Shisha Bar is located on the ground level. The main dining area on the rooftop features comfortable low seating. Seats 40 indoors, 74 outdoors and 44 at the bar.

Specialties

Al Barakat offers Lebanese mezze, grill items and North African specialties. Shisha Bar serves Arabian coffee and features authentic Shisha water pipes.

Cafeé Landaa

Overlooking the swimming pool and beach, the three thatch-roofed pavilions of Café Landaa are separated by reflecting ponds. For breakfast, lunch and dinner, our chefs create exquisite delights with eastern and western influences. The restaurant seats 82 indoors, 8 at the sushi counter, 8 at the teppanyaki counter and 50 outdoors.

Specialties

Asian and regional specialties from the tandoor and curry kitchen; in the evening, sushi and teppanyaki are served at dedicated counters in a dramatic water garden adjacent to the restaurant.

Barbecue Giraavaru

Located next to the seawater pool overlooking Kudarikilu Kandu (the channel), Barbecue Giraavaru offers fresh catch of the day as well as a wide selection of meats, salads and side dishes. Opens for dinner only; seats 32 outdoors.

SWIMMING POOLS: There are three swimming pools at the Resort. The spectacular Olympic size 50 metre main pool on the northern shore of the island has a swim-up bar, spacious sundeck and private gazebos. A free-flow children's pool with parent observation area is located nearby. Adjacent to the main pool, is the 20m wide ‘floating' seawater pool, whilst the romantic sunset pool (available to guests aged 15 and above) is located on the western tip of the island at Blu restaurant overlooking the stunning 2km lagoon.

LANDAA SPA & AYURVEDIC RETREAT: Situated at the heart of the island and stretching to the sea, the Landaa Spa complex comprises 10 thatched treatment pavilions. Four of the pavilions are built over water, three are set in a lush garden environment and three are located in the Ayurvedic Retreat. The Spa is a resort in itself, providing a comprehensive approach to physical, spiritual and mental wellbeing, with a special emphasis on Yoga and Ayurveda. Located within the wider Spa complex, the Ayurvedic Retreat, a first within Four Seasons, has been carefully developed in association with experts from Kerala, India. The aim is to educate and take guests on a journey through the physical, nutritional and emotional wellness benefits of ayurveda. The Resort's Resident Ayurvedic Physician is available to advise on healthier lifestyle options.

RECREATION CENTRE: The Recreation Centre comprises the following: The Health Club – It is equipped with the latest strength and cardiovascular equipment with personal TV and headphones. There is also a floodlit tennis court. Young Adults' Club – An entertainment lounge for young adults aged 12 to 18, equipped with pool table, table-football, table-tennis, magazines and parlour games. Kuda Velaa Kids' Club - The Children's Club keeps the Resort's youngest guests entertained throughout their holiday with an action-packed programme featuring beach and outdoor activities, creative crafts and games that are fun, educational and culturally enriching. Kids' programmes include sessions with the Resort's Yogi and Marine Biologist to back-of-house tours and ice-cream making with the Chef. Children's menus are also available in all restaurants. The Library – Housed in a comfortable lounge, it is located on the first floor of the Recreation Centre and offers treetop views of the island. It features a variety of books, magazines and parlour games as well a refreshment counter. Laptops with wireless internet access are available for rent. The Resort Shop features a wide range of fashion and beachwear, accessories, jewellery, gifts, souvenirs, arts & crafts, books, magazines and other merchandise. The Dive Retail Shop is located at the dive centre and sells dive wear and equipment as well as accessories and dive souvenirs. The Spa Shop is found at the Spa reception and includes a range of lotions, oils, books, bathrobes, slippers and incense.

DIVING: Maldives is known internationally as one of the world’s best dive destinations. A large number of excellent dive sites are located within minutes of the Resort. As the Baa Atoll is relatively undeveloped, most dive sites are newly discovered by the Resort’s dive team. There is a host of untouched sites to explore in the area. The Resort operates its own PADI licensed Dive Centre which boasts a team of experienced, multi-lingual diving instructors who conduct courses to improve diving knowledge and skill. International certification is issued by arrangement with PADI. The Dive Centre is also fully equipped with both Nitrox and Air facilities.

WATERSPORT CENTRE: The Watersport Centre offers a wide range of group and individual activities. Non-motorized activities are complimentary and include kayaking, snorkelling, windsurfing, single sail and catamaran sailing. Lessons in windsurfing and sailing can be given by RYA certified instructors on request. Additional motorized activities such as water-skiing, parasailing, banana-boating and fun tube are available at a charge.

MARINE RESEARCH CENTRE: The Marine Research Centre is located on the south side of the island, near the main jetty. Run by a team of marine biologists and research officers, the centre undertakes a number of environmental initiatives committed to the preservation of the vibrant marine gardens of the Maldives. Educational ‘Fishtalk’ briefings and presentations on a variety of marine topics are given each day in the research centre and guests are welcome to drop in at anytime for ad hoc discussions.

LOCAL ATTRACTIONS: At the Resort, you enjoy a vantage point from which to explore the sights, sounds and experiences around you. There are a variety of islands with historical and cultural significance that are within 30-minute speedboat ride from Landaa Giraavaru. Take a 30-mimute boat ride to Kendhoo Island and visit the 12th century house of Abu Al Barakat, the scholar who converted Maldives from Buddhism to Islam. The neighbouring island of Kudarikilu which is a 15-minute boat ride away provides a glimpse into Maldivian island life. Visit the island’s village school, local shop and mosque, and discover thunda kunaa, the traditional craft of mat weaving.
